INhance IT! Has Trays for Days…
If You Follow Inhance IT! on Facebook, You’ve seen the impact a beautiful tray can have on an otherwise blank space. Tables, counters, and even dressers and bathrooms are instantly brought to life using decorative trays! Today, we’re spilling tips and tricks to help you create this popular INhance IT! look in your own home!
Tip #1 Start with the Tray
Decorative trays come in as many shapes, sizes, colors, and varieties as the accessories that will adorn them, so the best way to choose a tray, is to decide on where it will be going. For example, we love to place trays on the coffee tables situated in front of a sofa or sitting area, this allows it to become a centerpiece that pulls together the style and tones for that room. Your main considerations should be:
- What size tray best fits the space?
- What shape would complement the rest of the room?
Insider Trick: You don’t have to match shapes, so if every table and furnishing in the room is square and structured, you may want to consider a circle, oval, or starburst shaped tray to break up the unanimity!
Tip #2 Choose an Inspiration Tray
If you’ve never styled your own tray, we recommend finding a picture of an “inspiration tray” online to help guide you. Our photo albums are filled with trays of every kind to help you get your creative wheels spinning, the best news is, it’s hard to match a tray perfectly since every good tray has unique elements, so even if you’re “copying” a beautiful tray you found online, you will still end up with an original!
Insider Trick: Stores like HomeGoods, and Marshalls are considered discount retailers because they have incredible values in limited quantities, this also makes them the best spots to find unique one-of—kind décor pieces for your home!
Tip #3: Add Height and Bulk First
Starting with your tallest and bulkiest accessories on the tray will help you assess what else can be added after. The tallest pieces are often items such as:
- Candle Holders
- Figurines and/or small statues
Insider Trick: If you place your tallest piece on the tray and it falls a bit short of your expectations, consider using a book, or stack of books to raise it to your desired height. This tip applies to any tray accessory you want lifted.
Tip #4: Add Texture and Colors
Trays are the perfect place to add excitement to your room. Different textures and colors should always be included. If your room feels a bit too dark, make sure you’re using light elements as your trays focal points. A few popular pieces to consider:
- Plants and Greenery
- Blown Glass
- Picture Frames
- Small wreaths lying flat
- Decorative Spheres
Insider Trick: If you want living plants, succulents are a great option, known for being easy to take care of. Also, it’s reported they have healing benefits as they purify the air and promote better sleep patterns!
Tip #5 What You Don’t Love Can be Changed, so have FUN!
Unless you’re an expert, chances are you won’t put together your ideal tray on the very first attempt. The good news is, simply shifting around the same accessories, putting the tray in a different area, adding, or eliminating pieces can all be quick and easy solutions! Many people use trays in their home to display seasonal decorations they can change out at every holiday! Since trays aren’t as permanent as flooring and backsplashes, it’s your chance to really have FUN!
Insider Trick: Use Trays at parties! As we said, trays are meant to be fun, so add a few small cake stands piled high with little desserts, glass apothecary jars filled with colorful candies, and small baskets of individually wrapped homemade cookies, as the perfect sweet addition to your next gathering.
